On May 25, 2019, Shenyang Metro Line 9 (Phase I) officially entered into trial operation, with CASCO’s Urbalis 888 signaling system, marking the milestone for Shenyang Metro to enter a new era of networked operation.
Shenyang Metro Line 9 is one of the two key planned “L” lines of Shenyang Metro Network, which constitutes the West Ring and South Ring. Phase I starts from Nujiang Park in the north and reaches Shenyang Jianzhu University in the east, with a total length of about 29km and 23 stations. It runs through five administrative districts of Huanggu, Tiexi, Yuhong, Heping and Hunnan, and passes through multiple crowded places such as Tiexi Square, Changbai Island, Olympic Sports Center and Hunnan University Town.
CASCO provided a complete Urbalis 888 signaling system solution for Shenyang Metro Line 9, and applied LTE wireless communication technology. This is the first CBTC line commissioned by CASCO in Shenyang and also its first metro project with LTE carrying signal. Nowadays, LTE signal transmission mode is gradually becoming the mainstream in the industry. Compared with the traditional signal transmission mode, LTE transmission can fully utilize 4G high-speed mobile communication network to make signal transmission faster. Meanwhile, special frequency band is made available for LTE signal transmission, effectively enhancing the anti-interference capability of communication networks and allowing great advantages in terms of communication quality, maintainability and extendibility.
CASCO, as the pioneer to lead domestic rail transit signal industry into LTE era, applied LTE signal transmission mode on Wuhan Metro Line 6 as early as 2016, thus becoming the first enterprise in the world to successfully realize engineering application of 4G LTE carrying CBTC train control system. In 2018, CASCO made another breakthrough in LTE signal transmission, with successful application of 4G LTE integrated carrying technology for the first time on Xi'an Metro Line 4. That is to say, synchronous transmission of multiple data can be achieved including signal information, vehicle information, ground information, passenger information and dispatching information, fully demonstrating sound technical strength.
With the opening of Metro Line 9, the metro network structure in the west and south of Shenyang downtown is improved. Together with Metro Lines 4 and 10 to be in service, a metro backbone network featuring “one horizontal line, two vertical lines and one ring” will be formed to cover the four major development areas in the east, west, north and south. This is of great significance for improving Shenyang's comprehensive transportation system, stimulating industrial upgrading, and promoting local economic and social development.
On the afternoon of October 31, CASCO, together with Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shentong Group”), Shanghai Telecom, Huawei, Shanghai Communications Services and other partners, launched China’s first rail transit operation management platform based on 5G applications – “5G+ Intelligent Operation Command Platform”, which is the first customized application of CASCO’s “Fully Automatic Operation System 2.0” for intelligent metros since its official release in June this year. At present, the platform has been officially put into operation at East Xujing Station of Shanghai Metro Line 2, aiming to provide intelligent rail transit service for the success of the Second China International Import Expo.
On October 11, 2019, under the escort of several CASCO signaling systems, the passenger dedicated line from Meizhou to Chaozhou-Shantou region officially entered into passenger-carrying operation, marking that the northeastern part of Guangdong was officially integrated into the “three-hour economic and living circle” of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
At 10:00 a.m. on October 9, 2019, CASCO’s FZK-CTC3.0 centralized traffic control system with complete intellectual property rights was officially put into operation for Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, the first heavy-haul railway in China. CASCO upgraded and transformed its original CTC system and assisted the successful reconstruction of signaling system, making it the first heavy-haul railway to be overhauled and renovated in China. It has not only greatly improved the freight capacity of the railway, but also set a new benchmark in the dispatching command of busy heavy-haul freight trunk railways with a capacity of ten thousand tons.
